Our History
Robust was founded in 1999, working from a small workshop in Upper Tean, Staffordshire.
As the business has grown it’s relocated to larger premises on several occasions, always staying true to it’s Staffordshire roots. The acquisition by Novoferm in 2019 has allowed substantial investment into these new premises, ensuring continued growth for years to come.

1999
Our first commercial premises were located on Bridge Villa Industrial Estate in Upper Tean. Measuring a petite 400 sq metres, the workshop was situated in a separate building from the office.

Kjell Roger Holmstrom (owner of Robust Staldorrar AB) acquires 75% of Robust UK.
2000
The turn of the millenium saw us move just three miles up the road to Brookhouse Industrial Estate in Cheadle. Despite being twice the size of the Tean site, our rapid business growth meant a second factory was set up in nearby Blythe Park, Cresswell.

2003
Our 10,000th door was manufactured!

2007
We invested in our first press break, heat press and punch.

2009
Kjell Roger Holmstrom sells his Robust UK shares to Garden Growth Industries.
2012
Norvester Equity acquire Robust UK from Garden Growth Industries.
2015
The relocation to Sutherland Road, Longton meant that once again our production was all brought together under one (larger) roof. Our continued success led us to acquire an adjacent building so that we could expand our manufacturing space further.

2019
Robust UK joins the Novoferm Group following Norvester Equity’s sale of shares.
2021
Our 200,000th door is delivered, demonstrating our rapid growth over the last few years.

2023
Robust UK celebrated a record year of sales following consistent year-on-year growth since the company was formed.
2024
Having outgrown our existing premises for a third time, the hunt was on for another new home! Following over £6m of investment from Novoferm, we are now residing in a fantastic new facility in Newcastle which has the capacity to support our ambitious growth plans.
