Overview

When Bishopbriggs Guide Hall received funding to refurbish their longstanding community facility, upgrading the outdated wooden doors was a top priority. The goal was to enhance security, longevity, and visual appeal while staying within a tight budget.

 

Why Robust UK?

Commercial and industrial door specialists Aardee Security Shutters Ltd were appointed to carry out the work, based nearby in Glasgow but providing coverage for the whole of Scotland. In turn, Aardee chose Robust UK to manufacture the doors; not only for the quality and durability of our OUTA-DOR steel doors, but also for our willingness to go the extra mile. Recognising the value of the project to the local community, Robust and Aardee treated this as a Community Benefits Initiative.

This meant that both companies provided the client with a substantial discount, allowing the Guide Hall Committee to reallocate more of their funding toward other key building improvements. It’s a prime example of each companies’ commitment to both quality and community.

 

Product Spotlight: OUTA-DOR

Specially engineered for external environments, OUTA-DOR is robust, weather-resistant, and highly corrosion resistant; making it ideal for facilities like community centres, schools, and public buildings.

The Guide Hall needed to replace three double doorsets plus a single fire exit, and the versatility of OUTA-DOR meant it was suitable for all four applications.

The Main Hall entrance is a double door finished in a crisp Ultramarine Blue PPC and featuring a Hooply multipoint sashlock to provide a smart, warm welcome to visitors without compromising on security.

Another Ultramarine Blue double doorset was installed as a fire exit; this included Briton panic hardware, a glazed overpanel to allow the flow of natural light into the space, and a removable transom so that the entire space of the structural opening can be utilised if bulky equipment or furniture needs to be transported into or out of the building for functions.

In addition, two RAL 9002 Grey White fire exits were also installed; a double doorset in the Main Hall, and a single in the Small Hall. Again, both utilised Briton panic hardware for safe, effective personnel escape in an emergency.

All four doors will require less ongoing maintenance than their wooden predecessors, providing ongoing time and cost-saving benefits for the Guide Hall Committee. Furthermore, as OUTA-DOR is manufactured from highly corrosion resistant Magnelis® steel, each door is supplied with an anti-corrosion warranty of up to 10 years.

The Result

With four brand-new steel doors installed, Bishopbriggs Guide Hall now benefits from:

• Enhanced building security;

• Improved weather resistance and durability;

• Low maintenance and long-term cost savings;

• A professional finish that enhances the building's appearance.

The upgrade has helped make the hall a more welcoming and functional space for the many youth and community groups that use it.
