Healthcare facilities demand the highest levels of safety, hygiene, and durability. From hospitals and GP surgeries to specialist clinics and care homes, Robust UK doors are carefully designed to provide tailored solutions that balance infection control, fire safety, security, and durability in high traffic environments where performance and compliance cannot be compromised and easy maintenance is critical.

We’ve Got it Covered.
Our steel door range is suitable for:
- Hospitals and acute care facilities
- GP surgeries and health centres
- Specialist clinics and treatment centres
- Care homes and assisted living
- Laboratories and pharmaceutical facilities
- Dental practices
- Veterinary surgeries

Infection Control & Hygiene
In healthcare, hygiene is non-negotiable. Doors must withstand intensive cleaning regimes and resist damage from disinfectants and wear and tear. Our INNA-DOR and OUTA-DOR are ideal for use in corridors, consultation rooms, waiting areas, day rooms and more thanks to the superior anti-corrosion performance of their base material, Magnelis®.
We supply all doorsets with a polyester powder coated (PPC) finish as standard, which provides smooth surfaces to facilitate easy cleaning and infection control in wards and corridors. Antimicrobial coatings can be specified for added reassurance in sensitive areas such as clean rooms, and stainless steel doors are available for applications such as operating theatres, laboratories and theatres to further support sterile environments.
Security & Access Control
Healthcare buildings must stay open and accessible – often around the clock – while also protecting vulnerable patients, staff-only zones, and controlled substances.
SECUR-DOR 2.1 – PAS 24 certified and Secured by Design – supports safeguarding in care facilities and ensures compliance with CQC requirements for safe environments, whilst TUFF-DOR (certified to LPS 1175 SR2, SR3 or SR4) is ideal for high-risk areas such as pharmacies, drug stores, and controlled labs.
We have access to a wide range of specialist locking and hardware options from the industry’s leading manufacturers; alternatively, doors can be supplied fully prepared for integration with electronic access control systems in use on the premises (eg swipe card, keypad, or biometric).

Accessibility & Inclusive Design
Healthcare environments must be accessible to all, with door solutions that support patients, staff, and visitors with varying levels of mobility and sensory needs. Robust UK incorporates accessibility into the design and manufacture of our doors to help estates comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and wider inclusive design standards.
Key accessibility features include:
- Wide door frames and clear openings to accommodate wheelchairs, hospital beds, and specialist equipment.
- Hinged or removable side and/or over panels to allow use of the full opening area; particularly useful for the movement of exceptionally bulky equipment or machinery.
- Low 6mm DDA compliant thresholds to reduce trip hazards and make transitions easier for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, with the option of no threshold in many circumstances.
- A wide choice of colour finishes to aid visually impaired patients, allowing clear contrast between doors, frames, and surrounding walls.
- Zoning through colour coding – doors can be finished in different colours to distinguish between wards, departments, or floor levels, supporting way finding and reducing confusion.
- Hardware options such as lever handles, push plates, and powered opening mechanisms for ease of use in high-traffic or specialist care settings.
Specialist Facilities
Healthcare buildings often have unique requirements beyond wards and waiting areas. To meet the rigorous demands of hospitals, clinics, and health care facilities, Robust UK can supply doorsets featuring:
- Anti-ligature hardware, such as concealed maglocks.
- Concealed closers.
- Continuous hinges.
- Kick plates.
- Finger guards.
Doors resilient enough to withstand repeated abuse and high traffic are essential to keeping patients and staff safe and providing a long-lasting investment and peace of mind.
For secure airflow in plant rooms, boiler houses, and air handling units, our fully louvred solutions such as VENT-DOR and TUFF-VENT provide a long-lasting and effective solution.

Fire & Smoke Safety
Containing fire and smoke is critical in healthcare, where evacuation can be complex due to mobility issues, and life support equipment must be protected.
INNA-DOR and OUTA-DOR provide up to 4 hours fire resistance, with INNA-DOR available smoke-rated to BS EN1634-3 on request; particularly important for corridors and compartmentation to create cells and break points for the containment of fire and deadly smoke.
GLAS-DOR is certified for 60 minutes fire resistance (E60) or for both resistance and insulation for up to 90 minutes (EI90); allowing visibility and light, open spaces in wards and waiting areas without compromising safety.
Finishes & Aesthetics
Healthcare settings should feel welcoming and supportive while remaining functional. Robust UK offers:
- Over 50 standard PPC colours, with non-standard RAL/BS finishes also available.
- Timber-effect finishes to soften the appearance of steel doors, particularly useful in care homes and dementia wards to achieve a warmer, more homely feel.
- GLAS-DOR partitions and screens for bright, transparent spaces in reception areas.
- Acoustic comfort – OUTA-DOR and INNA-DOR can achieve up to 36dB reduction, whilst GLAS-DOR provides up to 45dB. Reducing noise is essential for patient wellbeing and recovery, as well as staff focus.
