Warehousing

From regional distribution hubs to small storage units, warehousing presents a unique set of challenges. High-value stock, heavy daily use, and demanding safety standards all require door solutions that combine strength, reliability, and compliance. Robust UK manufactures steel doorsets designed to perform in the toughest environments — providing secure, practical, and efficient access across the warehousing sector.

Security & Restricted Access

Warehouses often hold valuable goods and equipment, making strong security essential. Robust UK offers a range of doors to meet different risk levels, from TUFF-DOR, certified to LPS 1175 SR2–SR4 for high-security stockrooms and external access points, to SECUR-DOR 2.1, which provides PAS 24 certified and Secured by Design accredited protection for offices and welfare spaces. Plant rooms and boiler houses can also be secured using louvred options such as VENT-DOR or TUFF-VENT, which balance ventilation with tamper resistance.

For personnel doors we offer a range of solutions, including supplying doors fully prepared for integration with electronic access control systems in use on the premises (eg swipe card, keypad, or biometric).

Fire Protection

Fire safety is another critical concern in warehousing, given the volume of stored goods and the scale of evacuation routes. Robust UK’s INNA-DOR and OUTA-DOR ranges provide up to four hours of certified fire resistance. Fire-rated doorsets with vision panels maintain visibility along staff circulation routes, while GLAS-DOR offers up to 90 minutes of protection (EI90) for office and welfare areas where light and transparency are also important.

Thermal Efficiency & Building Regulations

Energy efficiency has become a key issue in modern warehousing, but requirements vary depending on the type of facility. For heated warehouses, distribution centres, and cold storage units, OUTA-DOR THERM provides a compliant solution as it achieves U-values as low as 1.3W/(m²K), exceeding the standards set out in Part L of the Building Regulations (1.6W/(m²K) in England and Wales; 1.4W/(m²K) in Scotland). These doors help reduce energy costs and maintain stable internal conditions. For non-heated warehouses, Part L thermal requirements do not apply and our OUTA-DOR with honeycomb infill provides a suitable solution without over-specifying.

Large Openings

We can manufacture side and over panels to facilitate the use of a hinged doorset in a larger space, particularly useful if for example a roller shutter is being replaced with a pedestrian door.

Both side and over panels can be hinged or easily removable to ensure the full opening space is still accessible on occasion when needed, such as when moving large machinery, fixings or goods in or out of the building.

Where more cumbersome roller shutters or sliding doors are in use, a smaller personnel or fire exit door can be useful for efficiency purposes to aid the movement of people in and out of the building either on a daily basis, or in case of an emergency.

Durability & Finishes

Warehousing environments are tough on doors, with constant movement of goods and high traffic from staff and mechanical handling vehicles. Robust UK doors are designed to withstand this pressure, with Magnelis® steel providing long-term corrosion resistance and warranties of up to 10 years. A wide range of finishes is available, including powder coating in a choice of over 50 standard colours, or in any other RAL or BS shade of choice. For areas that want to provide a warm welcome (such as front-of-house, offices or staff rooms), our timber-effect finishes can be specified to combine the strength of steel with the warmth of wood.

Hardware such as lever handles, push plates, or powered opening systems make high-traffic doors easier to use, with kickplates providing additional protection. Add this to strong, secure hinges from the industry’s leading manufacturers and you can be sure that your entire doorset is durable, hardwearing, and fit for purpose wherever it’s located.

Built to Specification

Every warehouse has its own operational needs, whether focused on secure storage, energy efficiency, or logistics flow. All Robust UK doors are manufactured to order, ensuring specifications are met precisely without the need for on-site compromise.
